The Power of Hands: Rediscovering Raven's Lair and the Art of Self-Recognition

One thing that I have noticed is that there isn't enough love given to hands. One of the very few sites that dedicated to this was one that I was not around to see, Raven's Lair.  There are articles and content spread across various sites and I came across some of her relatively new content relatively speaking:

It’s strange how something written by a stranger can grip you in such an intimate way.  The way she writes makes me feel. Its the way she talks about her hands and how she knows them. It is recognition and it is raw and often a little dangerous. The way she shares a part of herself and how she created Raven's Lair. She didn't just show her hands, she showed desire and control and the very human guilt of revealing too much of yourself.

I never got to visit the actual Raven's Lair. But reading this post makes me wish I was around for it, not our of  voyeuristic interest, but because I really understand her. The way she talks about power  and learning to make something so simple her superpower.  She wrote : " Some girls have beautiful eyes, a smile, or an incredible body. I had my hands and I decided early on that even if the boys didn’t think about me, I had to do something to make sure they did. I began to point out to them how big my hands were and demanded that they put theirs up against mine to prove my point."    I love this kind of honesty and self-empowerment, there is something so deliciously exciting about it.

What really hits home isn't the sensual or the nostalgia, it is the ache of being recognized. That hotel scene feels so real where past and present become one. I’ve had moments like that. When an old version of me suddenly reappears through someone else’s eyes.
